Mr. Joseph holds a Master of Social Science in Professional Counselling from the Swinburne University of Technology in Australia and a Bachelor of Social Work from Singapore University of Social Sciences. He has 10 years of experience in counselling and has worked in numerous settings with clients from diversified backgrounds.
He has extensive experience working with children and youth who have experienced trauma and abuse. He has also done intensive work with individuals and families experiencing deep-rooted problems. He has attended clients facing multiple and complex issues related to trauma, child abuse, family violence, grief, depression, anxiety, social phobia, suicide ideation, self-harming behaviour, anger management, self-esteem, alcohol/drug addiction, marital/interpersonal issues, parenting/child management issues, teenage issues, and bullying.
He employs concepts from different schools of thought in the counselling arena and uses therapeutic techniques from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Reality Therapy and Family Therapy in his counselling efforts. He also provides psycho-education for his clients to help them learn about the nature of their difficulties and how to manage them. His motto is:
