Coronavirus (COVID-19) Mental Health Support
Since the COVID-19 outbreak in December 2019, countries (such as Singapore, New Zealand and Italy) have been shutting down their borders, implementing lockdowns that continue to stretch for weeks and limit the movement of citizens to minize the spread of the virus.
This has also sparked off the world’s largest work-from-home experiment where organisations and employees scramble to setup the infrastructure needed to work from home. Schools are also closely monitoring their students and keeping tabs on those who have been issued Stay Home Notices (SHNs) to ensure that no one violates the order.
These developments may impact the mental well-being of individuals where they may experience the following:
- Anxiety as a result of constant exposure to the news about increasing number of infections
- Fear and distress over uncertainty about the economy and careers
- Worry about the health of their loved ones
- Social isolation as they are now working from home and have minimal social contact with others
We are saddened to hear about the passing of Mr Thomas Schaefer, the finance minister of Germany’s Hesse state. He took his life after becoming deeply worried over how to cope with the economic fallout of COVID-19. This highlights the magnitude of the mental stress and pressure that one can face during this difficult time.
It is important for the individual to know that it is okay to feel vulnerable as we go through this period of uncertainty, particularly so if s/he had experienced mental health issues in the past.
We need to remain vigilant and look after the mental well-being of all staff and employees. As such, Singapore Counselling Centre is providing a per-pay-use COVID-19 Mental Health Support package for companies who wish to provide their staff with video counselling sessions.
Provision of Counselling Sessions
Employees can contact SCC directly via phone, email or WhatsApp to request for an appointment. SCC has counselling sessions available seven days a week. The session can be conducted via video counselling or face-to-face at our premises at 51 Cuppage Road. Provision of Webinars for Mental Wellness Talks
We are also able to conduct corporate talks for your team via webinars! This will enable your team who is working from home to tune in to listen to the speaker. Sessions will be hosted via Zoom, or we can use your organisation’s preferred teleconferencing tool.
