May has a Masters in Social Science (Counselling) from Edith Cowan University, Western Australia, and a Bachelor in Accountancy (NUS).
May has more than 30 years of working experience in both the Corporate and Education sectors. She has practiced in Accounting and Taxation for several years before moving to teaching and counselling in a post-Secondary tertiary institution. She has extensive work life experience understanding the aspirations and challenges of working professionals. May also has good experience in facilitation and trainings and is ACTA (Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment) certified by WDA (Singapore Workforce Development Agency).
Similarly, she is also able to reach out to younger lives still schooling as she has also worked with youths and children for many years. She hopes to reach out to these young lives and journey with them to develop life competencies to overcome their presenting issues. She has an interest in youth work as she sees potential in young lives to become great!
May has received professional training in Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Art Therapy, Reality Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Transactional Analysis. May usually adopts an eclectic approach when working with clients to meet their diverse and different needs. Her clinical interests are Coping with Grief and Loss, Anxiety, Relationships and Self-Esteem. With both her professional training and experience, and her Clinical Practice with a Family Service Centre, she has worked with individuals, couples and families with presenting issues in the areas of self- esteem, relationships, grief/loss, workplace stress and other life challenges.
She believes in the growth of a person, young and old, to cope with life difficulties and challenges so as to achieve strength, greater fulfilment and joy in living. She aspires to connect with her clients empathetically to empower them to build their self-confidence and realise their potential.
