These have impacted the way many perceive their own bodies and manage social perceptions when they deviate from the norm.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h3    avia-builder-el-3  el_after_av_textblock  el_before_av_textblock  '><h3 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >Do\u2018s and Don\u2019ts<\/h3><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are some habits that we should and should NOT adopt when interacting with individuals who struggle with body acceptance [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brown.edu\/campus-life\/support\/counseling-and-psychological-services\/body-acceptance\">1<\/a>]:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<div  class='avia-table main_color avia-pricing-table-container  avia_pricing_default   avia-builder-el-5  el_after_av_textblock  el_before_av_heading  avia-table-1'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/Table\" ><div class='pricing-table-wrap'><ul class='pricing-table '><li class=''><div class='first-table-item'>Do&#8217;s<\/div><span class='pricing-extra'><\/span><\/li><li class=''>Positive framing: We value positive and assuring comments. They change our outlook and make it easier for individuals to embrace themselves.<br \/>\nE.g., \u201cYou look great today! I think you\u2019re really rocking this look\u201d<\/li><li class=''>Be tactful: Always practice sensitivity with our words, actions, and reactions. Be respectful towards individuals&#8217; decisions on their living habits<\/li><li class=''>Encouragements: Provide alternatives for our loved ones to pick up on healthy living habits and assure them that health precedes physical appearance.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class='pricing-table-wrap'><ul class='pricing-table '><li class=''><div class='first-table-item'>Don&#8217;ts<\/div><span class='pricing-extra'><\/span><\/li><li class=''>Be dismissive: Insensitive or mindless remarks under the guise of \u201cjokes\u201d can cause more distress and emotional turmoil for individuals who are insecure about their body or appearance.<\/li><li class=''>Label: Judgmental remarks of a person&#8217;s living habits or physical appearance can jeopardise one&#8217;s self-esteem and sense of self-worth by causing them to overthink<\/li><li class=''>Ask for promises: While this might be done with good intentions, asking someone to diet and conform to socially accepted body types may cause more distress.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n<div  style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h3    avia-builder-el-6  el_after_av_table  el_before_av_textblock  '><h3 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >Healthy practices toward Body Acceptance<\/h3><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Since body acceptance is essential to one&#8217;s well-being, here are some ways you can practice body acceptance:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Practice Mindfulness and Gratitude [<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1177\/0145445503259862\">2<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/realfoodwholelife.com\/mindset\/5-practices-for-body-love\/\">3<\/a><strong>]<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Observe your body in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Focus on the affirming aspects of your body that you like instead of picking on the aspects that you dislike.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><em>e.g., \u201cI have a really nice smile\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For areas of your body that you dislike and can\u2019t help noticing, try to reframe those thoughts and accept that your body does not need to be perfect.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>e.g., \u201cmy teeth are not really straight, but I still look nice when I smile\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pay attention to the positive comments you\u2019ve received from the people around you.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Embrace Being A Human [<a href=\"https:\/\/realfoodwholelife.com\/mindset\/5-practices-for-body-love\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3<\/span><\/a>]<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remind yourself that the human body is unique and perfectly imperfect. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your body changes as you age. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subsequently, your body is not meant to fit into any particular societal standard of perfection. <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><em>e.g., when you no longer fit into your old clothes\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Remind yourself that clothes are meant to fit you, not the other way around.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Likewise, when you can\u2019t fit into a shoe, you get another pair of a different size. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talk to yourself in the way you would talk to a loved one. Be your best cheerleader!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Recognize\u00a0Triggers and Inputs [<\/b><a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"https:\/\/realfoodwholelife.com\/mindset\/5-practices-for-body-love\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3<\/span><\/a><b>]<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Pay attention to when you feel bad about your body.<\/li>\n<li>Ask yourself: What sets this off?
