Overcoming Infidelity and Restoring a Marriage

I thought I had a pretty good relationship with my wife, and when I discovered that she had an affair my world came crumbling down. I didn’t know what to do, who to speak to, and withheld all the pent-up anger and resentment within me for a very long time – until I met Joseph.

Joseph was our first counsellor, and hopefully, the last we will need. I walked into the room for my first session with Joseph as a unbalanced and volatile individual who had witnessed his wife cheating on him, and I walked out 6 months later as a composed and mentally enlightened individual. From the onstart I was made comfortable – his years of experience exuded a natural calming aura – comfortable enough to tell him all aspects of our failing marriage.

And he truly listened – not merely words – he “listened” to every emotion, every expression from both of us, and from there framed a factual and positive explanation to help both of us piece things together. He was incredibly empathetic, and felt like an extension of my thoughts and voice, which was critical as my own were not reaching my wife. He knew the right things to say too, and when to lighten the mood when things got too sombre, but at the same time fair and even harsh at times for good reasons. Through his candid intervention, both of us came to realize the mistakes we both made, and also how we truly felt inside.

Eventually, through Joseph, I came to understand my wife so much more, and started seeing her in a different light. More importantly, I also learnt many things about myself, and this made me much more aware of who I am and what our marriage was made of.

Our marriage is still mending, 7 months on, but thankfully with the knowledge and wisdom Joseph imparted to us. Saving the marriage was my intention, and not only did we manage to achieve that, we have also discovered so much more about ourselves along the way.

Thank you, Joseph. I sincerely thank you for your help. I would strongly recommend him for couples looking for marriage counselling
