I Look at Life Differently Now and Appreciate Myself More

I was going through the worst time in my life, suffering from depression and having negative thoughts constantly. I couldn’t sleep or engage with anyone. I felt tired all the time and also had a mixture of emotions; grief, sorrow, anger etc.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the counselling session as I had never been before. I was amazed at how quickly the SCC counsellor identified all the main issues during the first session. He made me feel better than I had done for a long time. I felt I could tell him everything without any concerns. He also made me laugh at the first session which I had not done for a while.

After the next four or five sessions I saw the changes in me. I became more positive, less miserable and at last I could look forward to doing things rather than having a negative outlook all the time.

The counsellor has given me great confidence and also made me take a deeper look into myself. I can now recognise when I’m about to fall into my bad habits and have a chance to stop myself before doing so – anger management being a key point.

I am glad that I decided to see a counsellor at SCC. Even though I am much better now and my depression has subsided, I continue to see the counsellor on a regular basis. I can’t thank him enough. He has made me look at life from a different perspective and has made me appreciate myself more. His understanding of the issues which caused me to suffer from depression was remarkable. I come out of every session feeling a lot better than when I go in. I have a much more positive attitude on life now. He is a very caring person and I’m truly grateful for what he has done for me.
